[Erron may have heard a snicker under Daria's breath. It wasn't her, her face denied.

All Daria saw was desert and sand, lonely and cruel desert and sand. She should bring her notebook, seriously being within a far more brutal culture was surely some inspiration for some writing.

She was more hungry than creative though at the moment, she kicked some of the sand.]

Pretty sure they know we are too.

[ It all happened in a moment. Erron spotted the flash of a pair of eyes first and shot on instinct. The result was a Taigore falling on the ground out of the air, bleeding profusely. Seems like Erron aimed straight for the heart and got it in one. With one swoop, he took his blade and stabbed it in the throat as if to make the death final. ]

Hah.

[ Well, he didn't go quite unscathed, his hand holding was bleeding. But he could ignore that. ]

All done, you didn't need to stab anything.

[She didn't waste a breath at all. She then watched the whole scene, and didn't move at all. She was shocked but really she just stood there, amazed really.

Man slaughtered animal.

But it was...kinda cool.

Daria just stood there and kept her eyes wide.]

No fair, you got all of the fun, I guess.

[Huh, she then noticed the bleeding.]

Looks like he tried to join the fun though.

[She pointed to his hand.]

[ That just gets shrug out of Erron. He'll tend to that later. It was a cut and it was stinging, but it was really nothing. He's gonna ignore what Daria said in order to get clips and ropes on the beast so that he could pull it back to camp.

But if he had a weak point, it was his hands. He became less effective anytime his hands were affected, so the less done to them the better. ]

Got stuff back at the camp for it.

[ Grunts Erron as he proceeds to start pulling. ]

[Daria couldn't stand it anymore. She watched him yank and pull on this thing. Men were dumb like that sometimes. She sighed.]

Hold it right there, cowboy. You keep that up, the thing will be compost by the time we get back.

[She opened her backpack and got a rather large kit from it.]

I'm going to assume this place doesn't have health insurance, or tetanus shots. Can't promise either now but I guess I have the next best thing to anything resembling health care at all.

Whut the hell is that?

[ He's actually taken aback, and he lets go of the Taigore harness to clutch his hand to him. ]

Insurance.

[She knew this would've had to come in handy. Daria had no idea what kind of thing she could get herself into here. She could at least prepare herself for a few boo-boos and have no one question her heavily when she got back. That was her best case scenario. At worst, she would die. But well, yeah.

So it wasn't her that would get the boo-boo, and it was kind of amusing.

Or lucky, but she didn't actually believe in luck.

She was no person who had too much training in first aid, but anyone could clean, sterilize, and wrap a simple wound, right?]

It's a first aid kit, didn't know what kind of mess we could get in but looks like it's not just me who could get hurt out here. In the middle of nowhere. With no hospitals.

I have whiskey at the camp.

[ Erron's just gonna eye that first aid kit suspiciously. He knows what they are, but he greatly prefers sleeping off a wound with some whiskey and a bandage.

Not that Daria's heart isn't in the right place, but he's just got some resistance to modern stuff. ]

[Stubbornness was fine, she got it. He wanted to tough it out and do it his way.

She didn't want to argue as to why, but she did want to argue on something else. Or rather, just negotiate.]

You can still use that, at the camp. But we're not at the camp, and you yanking on that now isn't really going to make it better later.

[So yeah, she was being a bit earnest here, as she was when she's legit had feelings about issues.]

I'm not saying you have to sacrifice your own practices, or lower your own standards in the long run. Just speaking as someone who wants to meet you half way and make sure you can hold your guns in two hands just fine.

[ There's going to be a bit of a stare down here, Erron's just going to look straight at Daria without blinking as if gauging whether she was serious about this.

When it seemed like she wasn't going to back down, he let out an exaggerated sigh and pulled off the arm brace that he had on. The wound had coagulated blood all over it and now that he had exposed it to the air, started to sting a little. It was just a surface wound, but it was a big one none the less. ]

Be gentle, I ain't okay with all them... things.

[ ~~science~~ ]

[She would've stared back, finding it somewhat amusing that Erron was so freaked out about her modern kit as she was about being in a more brutish society. It was like some corny novel she would've probably read more than plenty of times.

When he relented, she knew she was up and she had to tread carefully.

Again, she wasn't good at this. Just clean it and wrap it enough to make him happy and not feel like he was letting himself down in anyway. Because it was how she felt when he handed her the spear.

Daria was brutal, but was fair when she honestly felt she needed to be.]

Relax, I'll make sure I don't have to amputate it.

[Kidding, again. She slowly took out the supplies she was sure she needed. Sorry Erron, it was going to sting just a little as she cleaned the dried blood off. There was dirt all over that wound, she knew that couldn't stay there. But the stinging would've stopped soon as she would've soon wrapped it in a clean bandage. It wasn't shabby work, it was passable. She honestly did try to do minimal stuff to it.]

There, done. As far as you're concerned, this kit never existed beyond this point in time. You can treat it however you want after this.

And here I was thinking you were gonna kiss it better.

[ Erron looks at his hand. It'll do. It's science, it's not just a bandage and alcohol poured over it. But his wound was clean and he couldn't begrudge her for that. After some flexing of his hand to make sure it was all okay he's just gonna grab the harness that he was using to pull the taigore back to camp.

Thankfully it isn't too far away from this point. He's going to wait until Daria's ready before continuing. ]

[Oops, Daria snapped.]

...Scoot.

[Daria then grabbed one of the ropes on the harness.]

[ O... kay? Women are weird.

They're just gonna pull this taigore back to camp in silence then.

Cool. ]

[If Erron wasn't going to say anything, than Daria was the moment they got back to camp. Because Daria wasn't like any average woman. That would imply she was "normal" in any way. Her hands had some slight rope burn, but it'd go away. Wow, she actually did some work. Some lifting. Must for her crippling desire to care for her "patient". Nah.

Maybe.]

Great, now I can cross "Carrying a Dead Carcass Across the Desert" off my bucket list.

[ That gets another laugh out of Erron. ]

Not bad. I'm going to skin this now, get some grub in you.

[ Which means, step back before he goes and starts skinning this son of a bitch.

He took a small knife, and started to skin the animal to reveal flesh, bone and viscera. Erron was a pro, because it only took him five minutes before expertly portioned pieces of meat were laying in front of them, with a small pool of blood being soaked into the sand. ]

It's either stew or barbeque on the menu tonight.

[Man, last couple times Daria went something resembling camping, it was awful among awful. For one, it was with her folks. That always brought disaster. The berries her family ate and the helicopter evacuation was icing on the cake.

Then it was the school trip to the mountain, and she was sure she was going to freeze to death, or starve.

She wasn't with her family, and she wasn't going to freeze or starve.

Not like she liked camping to begin with, but this was really far less disastrous.]

Now you're spoiling me. All I ever eat at my house for dinner is frozen lasagna in fear of the one day my dad would burn our house down in the name of some new military cookbook he bought online.

[And yeah, she was saying that as he was skinning the food like that. It didn't really bother Daria too much, not anymore.]

... Frozen lasagna?

[ Erron looks confused. What is that? ]

Frozen pasta with marinara sauce filled with preservatives and processed cheese.

[A brief pause.]

But, as I said, much better than dealing with my dad's cooking.

Dare I say you catching meat and then cooking it might hurt his ego more than he does to himself.

[ He's just going to shrug, because all he's getting out of this is that in the future, they ate some really weird shit.

Right, now time to cook this beast up. Don't mind if Erron just starts turning out a whole feast of barbequed meat, even turning the innards into something semi-palatable. Or at the very least, smelled it. ]

[Damn, maybe she was serious. Maybe Erron would make her dad jealous. As he was cooking, she was writing in her notebook, leaving them both at some peace.

I can't believe I'm actually about to eat what was killed in front of me a few hours ago.

She couldn't believe a lot of things today but, in the end of the day, it did prove to be great writing material.

Great short story material apparently, she had been ruffling through page after page.]

[ Erron is probably old enough to be her dad. ~~Not like that's stopped him hitting on her~~. But regardless, soon enough Erron is pulling away from the fire with a nicely roasted lump of meat, coated in barbecue sauce. He sets it between them and hands her half a loaf of bread and a knife on a steel plate.

He felt a little awkward really, because he's never really shared these kinds of meals with just one person. Normally it's a whole gang of people and the silence is a little deafening.

So he coughs, trying to disguise his awkwardness because goddamn. He is decent with people.

In short bursts.

Maybe not. ]

[Erron probably beat her dad by a few hundred years still. ~~Not like that's stopped her from thinking he's cute.~~

They seemed to spend a long time being quiet. Erron did his thing and she did hers.

With Erron and his decency and awkwardness, she was dealing with her own. They were both such outcasts in a relate-able way. Daria was sardonic and so out there in terms of mannerisms even she was aware of it sometimes.

Maybe she started writing because of that sparking inspiration. Or maybe because it was hard to really show a certain emotion and she couldn't find it in her to break the ice. When Erron started handing out the food, the fresh bread in front of her in particular, she knew she had to say something.]

...Hey, if it wasn't really apparent before....thanks.

[ Wow, what a very eloquent reply, Erron. ]

This was my idea, I gotta take some responsibility for it. You don't seem bored though.

[ Please like the Taigore meat, it's just like beef but more game-y in flavour. Erron's tried to make it more palatable to Earthrealm palettes though whether he succeeded is a different manner all together. ]

I can definitely still say this place is much better than Lawndale. Take that for what that's worth.

[She took a bite of the meat, and then another. Then another.]

I just know it took you a few sweet talks to even get me here.
