[Edward was on course for Kingston when he woke to find himself in... New York. Blasted New York, of all places, his crew nowhere to be found. As he roamed the streets, His Majesty's Redcoats seemed to take exception to the man. Maybe it was because of his dress. Maybe it was because he was armed to the teeth with cutlasses and pistols strapped across his chest. Either way, they didn't like the look of him, and were accusing him of being a supporter of rebel militia.
Tempers already seemed a little frayed, and Edward wasn't interested in being shot full of holes, so he holds his hands up in a peaceable gesture, adopting his best feigned English accent:]
Now, gentleman, why don't we talk about this like civilised fellows? I can prove I'm a privateer under the King's employ. If you'll stand down a moment I can show you his seal...
[He has no idea what the situation is in these parts of the colonies, much less that there were rebels of any kind, so his bullshitting is potentially going to make things worse. Help????]
